GSC AWARDS
The GSC recognizes team championships and certain individual achievements by awarding trophies, plaques and certificates.
Team Championships: A trophy will be awarded to the GSC championship team in each sport in which the Conference conducts an official championship with at least six sponsored institutions.
Division Championships: In sports in which the Conference is split into Divisions, the first place team(s) will be recognized, but no award is given.
Individual Championships: For individual sports (cross country and golf) the individual who finishes first shall receive a plaque.
All-Conference: The Conference will present awards to student-athletes selected as First Team and Second Team. First Team members receive a plaque and Second Team receives a certificate that is printed from a template approved by the Commissioner, but only at the expense of the institution.
All-Academic: GSC All-Academic Teams will be selected by the FARs and SIDs for all sports in which the Conference conducts an official championship. All-Academic members will receive a plaque. The minimum grade point average to qualify is a 3.20 overall. Freshman are not eligible, nor is a student who has not spent a full year in residence at the sponsoring GSC school and passed 24 semester hours towards an identifiable degree.
Academic Honor Roll: The GSC recognizes every student-athlete who as achieved a grade point average of 3.00 when it releases its annual "Academic Honor Roll." Institutions should submit the names of all qualified members who competed against outside competition. No award will be given.
All-Sports Trophy: The GSC awards Men's and Women's All-Sports Trophies to the institution(s) whose teams receive the most total points based on the final standings in each sport. Ties result in multiple trophies.
"Top Ten" Awards: Each year the Conference will select at least five men and five women as its "Top Ten" Award winners based on the criteria used for the Commissioner's Trophy, with the most outstanding male and female earning the Commissioner's Trophy.
Commissioner's Trophies: Each year, the Conference recognizes the most outstanding male and female athlete with the presentation of its most prestigious award. The criteria beyond outstanding athletic prowess; included are leadership qualities, school and community service, academic success, character and sportsmanship.
