UWF's Shetty Repeats As Player of the Year

Birmingham, AL—The Gulf South Conference announced the 2009 Women's Golf All-Conference Team today.

West Florida led the way with three honorees, while Arkansas Tech and Harding added two overall players. Henderson State, Montevallo and West Georgia each added one member. UWF posted a trio of Second Team standouts, while ATU and HU posted one First Teamer and one Second Teamer.

GSC INDIVIDUAL HONORS

West Florida's Bhavna Shetty earned her second consecutive GSC Player of the Year selection after sharing laurels a year ago. Shetty was the Individual Medalist at the 2009 GSC Championship Tournament and led the Argonauts to their third straight league Crown. The sophomore posted 79.39 scoring average during the season and collected two Top 10 finishes.

Montevallo's Emma Breen was tabbed GSC Freshman of the Year. Breen had five Top 10 finishes this season, including a 10th place effort at the GSC Tournament.

GSC Coach of the Year honors will be announced later this week.

ALL-GSC TEAM

Henderson State's Jenna Chadwick headlines the All-Conference Teams as the league's first-ever three-time First Team All-GSC performer.

Arkansas Tech's Danielle Lewis, Montevallo's Emily Gibson and West Georgia's Sarah Ross make the jump from previous Second Teams. Lewis was named to the 2007 Second Team, while Gibson and Ross climb from last year's Second Team. Harding's Brandi Watkins rounded out the All-GSC First Team winners.

The Second Team is led by West Florida trio; Shetty, Natalie Espinosa and Rachell Williams. Completing the Second Team was ATU's Kyla McIssac and HU's Natalie Gay.
