| VSU and UWF each fell in finals action |
Birmingham, AL—For the first time since 1996, the Gulf South Conference men's tennis season ended at the NCAA Regionals.
Five teams were apart of last week's South Regional action and two squads advanced to each of the two Regional site Finals, only to suffer tough loses.
Three GSC teams participated in the South Region #1 event hosted by Barry University. West Florida earned a spot in the Final Match only to fall to Barry, 5-0. UWF defeated SIAC Champion Morehouse in Day One, 5-0, and then clipped GSC West Division rival Ouachita Baptist in Day Two, 5-2. Alabama-Huntsville also qualified for the post-season but fell to Flagler in Day One, 5-0.
Two-time defending GSC Champion VSU gave South Region #2 host Lynn a scare before dropping a 5-4 decision in the Finals. VSU earned a Day One bye and advanced to the third day via a 5-0 sweep of Rollins. The other GSC participant, West Alabama, lost to Rollins in Day One, 5-0.
